Solar energy- photovoltaics (PV)

is currently the most popular technology for renewable energy generation. Photovoltaic panels mounted on the roofs of buildings or on the ground or in water convert solar energy into electricity. Solar farms are electricity factories, with a power of > 50 kWP. 
Depending on the location, these may be on-site farms located close to the energy consumer, directly connected to its internal installation, or off-site, built in an “empty field”, away from the energy consumer, connected to the distribution network, enabling – under appropriate contracts – use of energy generated by the installation.

Wind energy

Generating energy from wind on land (on shore) or at sea (off shore) is a particularly efficient method in our latitude. The turbine set in motion by the wind produces mechanical energy, which is converted into electrical energy by the generator. Turbines can have different sizes and powers, so they can produce energy on a small or large scale. A significant advantage of a wind farm over photovoltaics is the fact that it can produce energy around the clock. Currently, according to IRENA, this is the cheapest renewable energy. Investing in wind energy diversifies energy sources and increases energy security. It is also a way to achieve cost efficiency by using cable pooling, i.e. connecting at least two renewable energy sources to the same connection.

Biomass- biogas

producing energy from agricultural, forestry and industrial waste, which, subjected to methane fermentation without oxygen, produces biogas – a flammable fuel. Biogas can be a source of both electrical and thermal energy.

The type of microgrid depends on the number of participants (it may include one building, many entities from a specific area, the local community), function (as a “back up” solution), and connection to the grid option (it can operate with the grid or operate autonomously – outside it, so-called off grid microgrids)
